A logo made of digital clay: LAB featured by The Brand Identity

The Brand Identity has featured BOND's visual identity for LAB Institute of Design and Fine Arts, a system designed to be actively reshaped by students.

The Finnish institution's visual identity centres on a logo designed to behave like clay: a malleable form that continuously reforms in motion, never settling into a fixed expression. A custom digital tool allows students to reshape letterforms themselves, making them participants in the brand rather than observers of it.

The type system pairs fonts from Schick Toikka – co-founded by a LAB graduate – with the bespoke typeface Lahti Never Regular. Photography was captured by students themselves, documenting real moments rather than staged compositions. Built on a black-and-white foundation with selective accent colours, the identity creates space for student work and expression to take centre stage.
